Canvas Netting Enclosure

Product Description: The canvas netting enclosure has a few main functions and benefits:

1. As a room extension for tall users who need the extra leg length that extends beyond the rear hatch door.
2. As a room extension for smaller vehicles that lacks sleeping length such as mini SUVs or hatchbacks.
3. As a room extension so that users can make use of the extra storage space offered by driver and front passenger seats.
4. As a protective shield cover against outside elements such as insects, wind and rain.
5. As a secondary rear hatch door to allow easier access to sleeping quarters than via side doors.
6. As a means to allow better air flow and ventilation in the vehicle.

It works in conjunction with the ends of the folding bed frames. Special male connectors found on the bottom of the outer perimeter frame of the enclosure is securely plugged into female receptors of the corresponding end of the folding bed frame. Once this has been performed, the canvas material is released and placed over the rear section of the vehicle to cover all gaps areas. The canvas is tightened via straps and secured onto various suction hooks that latches on the vehicle’s side windows or metallic body surface. The canvas wraparound features works with different types of hatch doors such as swing ups, side swings, etc. To maintain the desired shape of the canvas, several fibre glass tent rods are inserted into the relative canvas grooves to provide it the stretching ability. The canvas also comes with mesh windows for good ventilation that can be rolled up or down if it rains.

The enclosure is designed using a series of telescopic tubing and angle joints that allows it to the tailored to the shape of the vehicle’s rear hatch door. Whether the hatch door is more inclined or less inclined, or has a longer or shorter shape, etc, the enclosure’s frame can be adjusted to follow its shape. When the user reaches the campsite, and needs to slide out or detach the camper unit, this enclosure first has to be unplugged from the camper unit. Once the roll out platform including the kitchen and storage contents has been ported out through to the exterior via the rear hatch opening, and the folding bed has been fully extended, the user can plug this enclosure back onto the supporting bed frame.

The enclosure door can be opened from the exterior via normal door handles. However, from inside the vehicle sleeping quarters, the door can be gently ‘kicked open’ by the user, to facilitate an easier access route to the outside. By kicking the door, the user can get out through the back ‘feet first’ instead of head first, and this will certainly make an easier path for the user to get out. There is a small portable step ladder affixed to the base support retractable frame to help the user climb in and out with relative ease. The enclosure door mechanism is facilitated by a pair of light duty gas struts, which means the door when lifted or ‘kicked’ up, will remain there for a brief interval before gravity naturally pulls it down to enable slow closing of the door. This will give just enough time for the user to get in and get out of the sleeping quarters conveniently. The enclosure door has insect mesh/canvas roll-up windows for good ventilation and view, and can also be rolled down if it rains.
